BC296D COMPUTER PROBLEMS

ANYONE HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THERE 296D HOOKUP TO THE COMPUTER. IT WAS WORKING FINE AND NOW NOTHING. I HAVE CHECK ALL THE SETTINGS BOTH WITH THE SCANNER AND COMPUTER BUT NOTHING NOW?

Mine also used to work fine, but now doesn't.

While it has been quite a while since I hooked it up to the 'puter, I wonder if it has something to do with the firmware version.

Probably not though, or someone would have barked about it a LONG time ago.

Guess we just need to keep troubleshooting.

1. Which software are you running?
2. Any noted popups during effort to hookup?
3. Have you guys recently installed sp2 or changed security settings. sp2, unless you select otherwise, will take control of your PC security, and may have different settings then you previously had with other security software.

Edit: BTW, fish4it and Ramrod are indicating similar problems with sp2 and Pro-96 software in this forum

B296D Computer problems

XP and the thing that gets me is it was working fine but nothing now and i wonder if my cable got crunch or something.

I had this problem. Are you getting the error communication please check bc296d or bc796d remote setting or something with check dcsn.exe My radio was not updated with no firmware. I have saved it to my computer and cd however. I have always used the comp. and had no problems until a while ago. Uniden told me to rest the scanner which I was reluctant to do tried it on other computers with different operating systems. Windows xp-pro, Windows 2000-pro and Windows 98-pro. all had the same results.

The solution was just to reset the scanner so far so good. Press 2-9 Hold at the same time. It will say something just wait. Hope you saved your info. Hopefully the 396 wont be this way. I also would note that a fire wall may prevent it from communicating. Have you installed a fire wall? Here this link might interest ya. Click me

The solution was just to reset the scanner

I had the same problems with the computer to 296 before. And I did the same thing that "Poltergeisty" described and it fixed the problem.
