BC296D - Programming help - I'm lost!

Hello All!

I have been away from scanning for about 6 or 7 years and have recently decided to get back involved. After countless hours of research on which scanner I should buy, I decided on and purchased a 296D. (Thanks to RR for the wealth of information!)

Here’s my problem. I understanding the concept of trunking and the idea of talkgroups, but I am completely confused on how to program my scanner. Here’s where I’m at so far. I have gotten frequency and talkgroup id information from RR and other websites. Using the Uniden software, I programmed the trunking frequencies just like conventional frequencies, but I just don’t know what to do with the talkgroup id’s. I’ve searched and found some really useful information, but I just can’t seem to figure it out. Can anyone tell me where I’ve gone wrong or tell me what to do next? I learn best by example, so if someone could give just one example, I probably could figure out the rest.

BTW, after reading several posts, I downloaded the trial version of ARC250. I’m probably going to buy the full version, but only if I can get a grasp on the programming and what’s involved. Also, I’m scanning in Delaware which is a Motorola Type II digital trunking system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Programing 296D

Use the computer software it is sweet! But remember to click on each trunking channel to tell it to start trunking.

Hello,

Welcome to the forum. Since you downloaded a trial version of ARC250, there are some limitations what you can upload to radio. You can download ARC mem files from www.henney.com which cover Delaware, and see a sample of how the files are formatted. Try to format the file as the sample you download.
