I can't seem to get the PC control to recognize my scanner. I have the serial port cord pluggged into the scanner but each time I try to either write to the scanner or read from the scanner I get an error code. The error reads "Communications error Check BC296D remote setting. I have the PC control and the scanner ar 9600 baud and the serial port is COM1. Any ideas out there.

First thing to check - do you have something taking up the port? Some Pcs come with other utilities - sometimes even the internal modem - that uses it. Check that in Control Panel.

Second - usually the first time a Uniden scanner is used on a PC, you must perform an initialize routine to set the scanner up (selecting the baud rate, etc.). 9600 Baud is a default; if you have a newer PC, you should be able to run much faster. The program may also has to be configured for the first time you plug it in. Which software are you trying to use? 73s Mike
