I can't seem to get the PC control to recognize my scanner. I have the serial port cord pluggged into the scanner but each time I try to either write to the scanner or read from the scanner I get an error code. The error reads "Communications error Check BC296D remote setting. I have the PC control and the scanner ar 9600 baud and the serial port is COM1. Any ideas out there.

Make sure the com port is enabled in the operating system. If you have a laptop make sure the port is enabled in the bios also. If Windows Device Manager shows the port and shows there are no conflicts then it may be the cable. Do you have another computer you can try it on?

Also depending on if your scanner is plugged into the front or the back of the computer you may want to try changing the COM PORT setting in the program or have it detect for you.
