A couple of new product announcements. Not trunked, so not so exciting for this crowd, but still a few interesting features in the 370, like:
  • Mil-Air
  • Atomic Clock
  • SAME (and EAS) Alerts
Edit: Tried to attach the product announcement and jpg's, but the new system doesn't allow files of that size (19.5 k limit?).

Edit: Changed to link to the original press release.

Cesium or Rubidium standard? Oh, THAT kind of "atomic" clock. ;)

Mil in a clock radio... Interesting choice. Maybe going after some gov sales with that one.

Works for me.

Do you have Adobe Reader installed?

How about if you right-click the link and select to "save the target as"?

[*]SAME (and EAS) Alerts

I like the EAS idea, hopefully we will see that in future handhelds and mobile/base models.

How does the EAS work? Do you have to dedicate it to a FM radio station like SAME?

Basically, whichever mode you leave the scanner in when you put it in standby, it will watch for an EAS signal. WX=last weather channel; AM/FM=last tuned broadcast channel.

Wonder if Uniden is working on a mobile version of the 396T? Bet they ain't saying if they are. Would be really nice if they were, however

About how much will these scanners cost? I may put one on the bedside table.

Paul, can you add a sleep timer?

Hmmm.. maybe this is auto power off? How come the 370 does not have that listed?

A) Some details are still being developed.

B) MSRP: BC340CRS = $129.99
BC370CRS = $199.99

For reference only, these are the same MSRP's as the BC244CLT and BC278CLT respectively. Actual market price will be determined by the market.

Disclaimer: All prices and features subject to change.

Hey UP MAN, Here's a guaranteed money maker/add on, put the fire tone out feature on the top end model, you can't miss adding that feature, just think your local fire department has a big fire at 2:00 am your alerted, etc. Anyone else think this would be a good selling point.

Fire tone out.. That was one of the first things that I thought about when I first heard about this new line. Kinda suprised its not in the specs.
