I've gotten every feature to work fine with the BC346xt except one.
When doing a control channel search in the custom search mode it will not stop on the control channels.
I can manually put it there and hit hold and it decodes the control channel just fine.
I've tried every hold time, every mode, both Standard 800/900 band and Splinter. This problem happens on all 800 mhz bands. When I first got the radio I had this problem on and off. Sometimes it would happen and sometimes it didn't. I could not find any reason. I tried different antennas, I tried different batteries, I tried plugging it into A/C and not. The same settings on my BCD396t work fine on the systems I am trying to get.

Am I the only one having this problem.

HELP!

Thanks.

You said you had the seeting the same as the 396 classic, but just to be sure do you have C-Ch Only set to On in the Custom Search that you set up? Your Attenuator is not on? Close Call, Priority, or WX priority is not on? How about the step? Is it set to Auto or a frequency?

The answer to all is yet. I am using the Default band plan with no close call, priority cal or weather alert on. So there is no one else having this problem?

I even reset the entire scanner and still had the same problem.
Need a real expert or beta tester for help here.
Help Paul?

Any chance you have the control channels locked out that you want the custom search to track? I do this to catch active control channels not already identified.

No. It's searching and doing the same thing on all the control channels in the band.
It stops just above the actual freq. For example 860.9875 is the control ch freq. It will stop at 860.875. If I hit hold and manually to 860.9875 then it tracks the control channel fine. I check it against my
BC396T and that radio is fine. I've been into scanners for over 35 years and I beta tested the BC246, BC396, and BC15 for Uniden. So I know what I'm doing. It just does not work.

What is your search range? I see the default step is auto. Maybe you need to change the step size to accomidate the range?

Also it was off freq by 5khz i believe.

Works just fine on my production sample, Jan.
C-Ch Only is on.
MOT Band Plan = 800/900 Standard
Range = 850 - 868 MHz
Modulation = Auto
Attenuator = Off
Step = Auto

You will hear no data ch noise. Instead, the scanner will stay muted, but attempt to trunktrack the system (i.e. you'll hear audio when it jumps to an active voice channel).

I have all the setting correct. It stops on 860.975 instead of 860.9875. It doesn't matter if I am scanning up or down. If I hit hold and manually move it to 860.9875 it decodes fine. Just will not stop on control channel. Even if I go to Service Search it will not stop on that freq. Other than this problem everything else works fine. Very impressed with the ease of going to any particular channel with the number keys. And of course better sensitivity.

I guess I got a lemon. Should I contact Scanner Master or Uniden?

If you are very close to the site, it might be "splattering" enough to cause it to stop on an adjascent frequency. What does attenuation do for it?

I've tried everything Paul. I am not too close to the site. It happens even when the antenna is off. I tried the attenuation and it does nothing. It even will not stop on the freq in the service search mode. Obviously it will not decode the control channel there. It works fine when I program the radio just not on custom or service search from 851-869 mhz. I bought it at Scanner Master. Should I take the problem up with them or will Uniden deal with it? Thanks.

Email me directly, Jan. I'll set up a site where you can dump a clone file. I just want to see if, with your scanner's memory image, mine does the same thing.

BTW: Is it only for that one frequency? Or is it for every control channel? If it is just for that one frequency, it might be that there is some interference source that is creating a false signal on that frequency.

Sorry, Jan. I see that email now. I seldom check that account during the day and have had engagements the last 3 nights. I'll set up a site later this morning. meanwhile, can you take a look at my last questions and let me know?

Re: Custom Search Mode - Control Ch Only

It's for every control channel in the 800 mhz band.
