Hello, I am upgrading to the 346XT from a BC245XLT. I have the 346 on the way, I am looking forward to getting it. From everything I have read I am going to use FreeScan to program it, I programed my 245XLT by hand with no major problems. I like how I can turn off and turn back on certain trunk systems and certain police departments on the same trunk system. The information I have read says it is fairly easy to program the scanner using FreeScan and the download of local freq. My concern is once they are in the scanner ,how are they grouped (police depts., fire depts, parks, road dept., etc.) together and can I turn them off and on like my 245XLT.
Any help on this issue would be great. I just read a thread from back in 2008 where a man downloaded the freq. and talk groups along with regular freq. and did alot of altering to the list in FreeScan before the scanner even arrived.
