I just purchased a BC346XT. I'm looking for delivery this Thursday. I've already downloaded FreeScan and I bought the USB-1 cable.

Was wondering if there is any pointers or heads-up to be aware of before diving in? This is my first DMA type scanner. I'll be using it primarily for conventional freqs and most of those will be VHF/UHF air freqs.

Thanks for any advice....

If memory serves, the 346XT doesn't cover the 225-400 Mhz area...

Here are 2 articles from our local wiki that should be useful...

Connecting scanners via USB - The RadioReference Wiki

That article has a pretty good section on what to watch for in Device Manager when loading the drivers for the USB cable;

Uniden DMA FAQ - The RadioReference Wiki

At the bottom of this article are the links to the Easier to Read manuals. Although there isn't one for the 346, there is one for its older brother, the 246. If you understand that one, the 346 is a short logical jump away.

You are correct!!

You are correct... there is no coverage in this range as I found out today! I read some information initially that lead me to believe the 346 had coverage in this range.

Much to my disappointment, I have already gotten a RMA# and will be returning the unit.

Thanks all,
Keith
