BC350C... Junk I know; but help please!

I've had a BC350C for about 8 months now. I've got a base antenna (just a cheap Radio Shack "scanner antenna") outside the house, mounted on the corner of the house.

The scanner has worked well and I've been able to pick up all the frequencies I've wanted to. Recently though, I've started to get more and more static, and the end of some of the broadcasts seen to be cutoff. I checked the connection at the antenna... No corrosion or anything like that.


Can anybody offer any advice?

I would probaly start off by disconnecting the outside scanner,replace the stock one,and see how that works on local frequencies.Then I would try it out,mobile-same ant,just sitting on the seat.Drive around,its possible that there has been some cell tower,or other source of rf,that has been built around your area. I assumed that you took it away from computers, etc.
I have one myself,it is really handy for searching new frequencies.

Try connecting another scanner to the antenna. Program the same frequencies into the other scanner that you are hearing the static on your BC350C.

If with the other scanner you hear no static or very little static then there is a problem with your BC350C.

If the same problem exists with both scanners. The antenna just isn't bringing in the signals. :lol:

Antenna Connection May Be Broken

Open the case and look to see if connection from antenna to circuit board is in good condition. If not, find a friend that can solder/repair.
