With some help on this forum I am slowly getting back in to scanning. I am now looking for a small scanner, does not have to have a lot of channels, but needs to be narrow band capable. I want to use this to scan railroads only. The above would fit if NB albeit a little harder to program all 97 frequencies. Kevin

No. See page 13 for steps: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/BC355Com.pdf In general, older smaller scanners do not have NB. Now the newest bank scanner, BC125 DOES, and it is a sweet unit for $140 http://www.scannermaster.com/Uniden_Bearcat_BC125AT_Police_Scanner_Radio_p/10-501770.htm You might need to get the latest firmware update, depending on from whom you purchased it.

At this time, the only conventional (non-trunking) scanner that supports narrowband demodulation and steps is the BC125AT.

Nice unit but did not want a portable unit. I am looking for more of a mobile type. Granted this could be used as both but I don't want the hassle of having to keep changing antennas and re-installing it, if you will, in my truck.

An oldie but goodie might do. It is a bank scanner like older ones' and has alpha tags as well: BC796D - The RadioReference Wiki I still love and use mine. You can find them on Ebay and classifieds here. Or a more recent one for same price range: BCT15 - The RadioReference Wiki for $220: http://www.scannermaster.com/Uniden_Bearcat_BCT15X_Police_Scanner_Radio_p/10-501359.htm This is a DMA model, which will be a steep learning curve from older models you may have had in the past.

I actually already have one of them in the truck now. I was using that for only RR frequencies for a time. The Connecticut CSP narrowbanded their system and for a good year and a half 2 years I could not hear them and really had no desire to. A member on the forums helped me set it up so I could hear them again. I am not too savy when it comes to radios and programming. I have since programmed another bank in and have started to enjoy listening to other agencies besides trains. Now I am starting to Railroad transmissions thus my original post.
