Does anyone know if you can put coventional frequncies into groups in one bank and then give them quick keys so that you can drop a group if you are not in the area that you have programed frequncies for.

The BCD396T does not have banks. You can put conventional channels within one system into different channel groups so that you can easily turn on/off channel groups within the system by pressing F+the quick key for the group.

I created a system named Sacramento Conventional where I put the VHF Fire Dispatch, CHP, Media, ect... in and monitor that with the the County and City Trunking Systems.

you have to separate systems for trunking and conventional

a sample

system 1 named "chp" is conventional system quick key 1
group 1 police group quick key 1
group 2 fire group quick key 2
group 3 medical group quick key 3

system 2 named "sacremento" is trunking system quick key 2
group 1 police group quick key 1
group 2 fire group quick key 2
group 3 medical group quick key 3

with the conventional system, the groups are frequencies
with the trunking system, the groups are talk groups

Thanks for the info. I coudnt get my scanner to work right but have now found the problem. It was with the Butel software and i had not turned the groups on and that was giving me all my problems..DUH...
