I use a crappy little Nascar analog scanner (my first scanner lol) for two things.
1) It has the Close Call feature that I use to capture this illusive frequency that I am investigating 155.9850 MHz.
2) I also have played with it in its lesser known mode of a make shift frequency counter - sort of! I was just wondering if it can still rx any analog frequencies for Fire, EMS and STARS?

A few years ago when I used it occasionally to checkout Close Call to identify frequencies I had it programmed pretty ' Willy-nilly' with a bunch of unknown frequencies and could receive the odd call from STARS, EMS and Fire. I have since cleared (reset) that scanner a bunch of times and can't find the analog frequencies it once used to grab. Just wondering if there are any interesting Analog Saskatoon Frequencies still operational for that scanner?

My niece might have an interest in it. I realize this topic may or may not have been discussed at length already in other forum threads, but was hoping for a quick answer before the old scanner gets gutted for electronic experimentation.... Thanks.

There is Close Call and you can also set it to search the bands,so set it up to search between 25 to 512 and see what happens.
There will be 'birdies' that sound like an open mic and interference from electronics around you. My computer and modem put out signals.
I even get 'blips' from the other scanners.

Yes I have tried that and it is interesting to see what pops up. What I am trying to determine is if there are any backup analog EMS, Fire, STARS, or other interesting things still 'analog' enough to program that scanner with. I would like to wipe it clean and then program all things that might still be able to be listened to PProv comm.png
