What does the word "line" (next to the word "data") signify on the display of this scanner? I can't seem to find it in the manual.

Likely that's a fixed output, useful at the time for tape recorders and, at least in some cases, soundcard connections

You didn't look to hard. It's on page 11

You must mark a channel, ID, talkgroup, or bank for Recording in order for this
feature to work. The LINE icon appears on all channels that have been properly marked.
