Edit: Welcome to the forum.

The 785D will not trunk track this system. Either use any two 800 Mhz scanners in manual (FM Mode) as suggested or two scanners, one tapped and the other with a RS232 jack as parked scanner. The scanner with the tap must be able to be 800 programmed. The 785D can serve for either position.

Thanks for responding.

If I use LTRUNK, I would still need 2 scanners would both need the RS232 jack and please explain Tap.

1 More thing, it is said on the link above that you will hear constant unsquelch. Is that true if you use the LTRUNK also?

Thanks

No, only the parked scanner.

I don't have a multi-net but that is my understanding.

To clarify, one scanner sits on the status channel (the one that is always transmitting) and it sends the subaudible data to the PC. A filtered discriminator tap is needed in this scanner. LTRtrunk will display system activity with this input.

A second scanner with an RS-232 port also connects to the PC and is used for tracking voice transmissions. Newer scanners like the BC246 and BCD396 use a different protocol and will not work. Older scanners like the BC245, BC895, BC780, BC785, BC796, BC250D, and BC296 will work as the tracking scanner. LTRtrunk controls the tracking scanner so you do not hear the constant dead-air transmissions from the status and home channels.

I've used LTRtrunk to track a MultiNet system and it works pretty well. MultiNet is a terrible system with many problems and some of the few agencies that still use it plan to migrate to other systems.

what scanner, scanner's do you recommend for tracking this system. I don't want to buy 2 BC785d's if I don't have to. They are expensive. Are there any that will do the job and be cost effective? also ....do they have to be digital?

Also , where do you get a "filtered discriminator tap" is this an extra piece of hardware?

The scanner that sits on the status channel can be anything that receives 800 MHz. You will need to build a filtered data slicer and connect it to the discriminator output in the radio. There is a connection point in the BC780 that gives fair results without the use of a filtered data slicer.

The tracking scanner can be analog only, as indicated by the models I listed in the previous message.

The documents in the LTRtrunk package explain things in greater detail. Get it on this site by selecting Downloads from the home page and then select Trunked Radio Decoders.
