Does radio shack sell a 800mhz antenna for base scanners. I know they have one for handheld, i have one for my PRO96.

If not, i will have to order one since there are no stores around me that sell scanner equipment.

They don't, but you can buy a BNC rightangle adapter and use the HT model. I've done that on my 780 with good results.

1) I would be more concerned with teh line than the antenna

2) How well can you hear the systems you want currently? This will give an indication of what you need.

3) Do you only want 800 MHz?

That salesman has been here alot longer than you. I don't think he tries to hide the fact that he's trying to make money. We have a few on the F/S boards who are running a business without saying so, thus appearing to be hobbiest selling off an extra scanner.

I'd rather like people to be upfront.

P.S. I'm not a cuttomer of JohnWayne, so I'm not defending him in particular.

Jeff has been a contributing member here for a long time. As you can see from his post count, he doesn't make a nuisance of himself. He offers information and advice, sometimes along with a plug for a product. I've not had the occasion to buy from him, but everybody who has seems satisfied. As far as I know, not once has the owner of this website or any of the moderators had to take him to task for his posts.

The sum of the above: Jeff is a valued & respected member of RadioReference. Salesman isn't a four-letter word, ya know!

Arcticpeak, thanks for the link. I had looked at that before, but forgot about it. Quess I better head to lowes and get the hack saw and torch out and DIY. I also purchased for John and am a very satisifed customer.
