BC796 Trucking ?Newbie

I cannot figure out what I have to do to set up Trucking. Please make it simple if you can help me.

Anyways, what is it exactly you are trying to set up? E.g. Which system(s)
are you interested in, then we can take it from there. :wink:

You need to research the system for your area on this web site. You should be able to find the information you need. If not, then post your location on the STATE forum requesting help. Then shop for software. Trying to manual PGM one of these scanners is a hard way to go. Good Luck

Everything on this scanner is menu driven. SO, (this is from memory - the scanner's at home right now, so bear with me)

1. Press Menu
2. Select "SCAN OPTION" and press E (E selects each menu choice)
3. Select "TRUNK:
4. Select the bank you are setting up.
5. Select "TRUNK TYPE:"
6. Select the type of bank you are programming, in this case "TYPE2/P25 800" (or 900, if it's in the 900 band).
7. Select TRUNK CHANNEL
8. Select the channel you want to program.
9. Enter the frequency.
10. Enter the Alpha Tag (if desired, or press E for none)
Repeat 8-10 for each frequency you are programming, then select "DONE".
11. Select "TALKGROUP"
12. Select the talkgroup slot to program
13. Select "ID:"
14. Enter the ID you want to program
15. If desired, select "Alpha Tag" and program that as before.
Repeat 12-15 for each talkgroup.
Now you should be able to start scanning that bank and admiring your handiwork!

Software. I use ARC250 which supports 250-D, 785-D, & 796-D.

That will enable you to program without all the button pushing.

I've done both........software is the way to go.

Butel is the creator of ARC250. It is available for sale on line at www.scannermaster.com . You can order a CD version or download version.

"LINKS". There is a FAQ site on basics of trunking. Could be some good info for you.
