I'm trying to setup the 796D to monitor our new UHF P25 system in Sydney Australia and although the manual says it will do it, the trunk system settings don't give the options to.

I've got the base and offset information but the settings don't accept them, and when I input a spacing of 6.25MHz, it gives me an error.

Is ther a CC only option I haven't found or maybe a firmware update to fix this issue?

Thanks
Mike

Well it turns out it was a firmware issue. I have upgraded from V3.21 to V3.60 and it now works 100% with 400MHz P25 UHF systems.

All upgrade info and file are here BC796DFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

Just set the bank for TYPE2/P25 UHF and the tracking information is contained in the P25 control channel data stream. You still have to enter all voice frequencies for each site and just ignore the base and offset settings.

Happy New Year.

The Manual clearly states that the CC only option is only for Motorola 800 and 900 MHz systems.--

UPDATE! I have found the 796D running V3.60 firmware will do 400MHz P25 systems with control channel only. I was watching my 796 tracking a Sydney P25 site and was puzzled that it was tracking to voice frequencies I didn't have programmed in the bank. So I deleted all the voice frequencies and left just the control channel and yes, it tracked to all voice frequencies on that site with no problems at all. No other settings were changed.

Thanks for posting that 796D update Mike_Alpha. It took me awhile to figure out how to properly download it to my scanner via the dreaded VISTA!!! Vista sucks yeah. Vista sucks.
