It's going to be real hard to program without the frequencies. You'll need to locate the frequencies or use the search function on the scanner. That is that whoever you want to listen to is not using encryption.

if i use the search i found some freq's but how i can know if it's a CC and other things

What exactly are you trying to program? The link you provided just takes you to the XTL5000 page on the Motorola website. That doesn't tell us what your trying to program into a 796D unless I'm missing something. Or if your just asking if the 796D can do Astro Digital like the XTL5000 then the answer is yes.

Well they don't necessarily have to be trunked they could be conventional unless you know for a fact they are trunked. In any case if you know nothing about there system then your best bet would be to start searching the bands. Or if you can get close enough to one while there transmitting you can grab the frequency that way. However doing it that way and if there trunked you will only have solved part of your problem. The other half would be finding the control channel for there system. However your location says your in Saudi Arabia so its anybodies guess in terms of what type of systems Motorola could have deployed over there. It could be a system that the 796D can't even track like a TETRA type system which are very common in other parts of the would outside the US.

so you found nothing on any transmission?
try it again, keep scanning

you may be the first to find out the frequencies and can add them to the database.
