BC796D P25 Audio Too Loud

This question is more for Upman, is there a way to have the P25 audio decoded by the 796D turned down at all via an adjustment inside the radio or a firmware update? Seems the P25 audio is very unbalance (loud) compared to all other analog communications received on the scanner. Just seems your always adjusting the volume while listening especialy at night when others are sleeping. An optional AGC board would be even better (wink, hint).

Not too sure about that. Their newly released BCD396T seems to have the same problem, maybe even worse, from what I've been reading. I have two BC796D's with the same issue. I set the volume for analog, then when it hits a digital system, it's too loud. I set it for digital, then analog is too quiet. It does help to figure out who you're listening to, without looking at the display.

i havent heard a 396 yet- so i cant comment on that.
the agc on the 396 was supposed to change the audio differences between analog and digital- i would think if enough people complain about the agc not working well, then uniden would do something about it.

the 396 is a replacement for the 296- the next logical step would be to introduce a mobile with similar features to replace the 796.

hopfully i will get a chance to work with a 396 to see what the agc will and will not do.
