Hi all. I have a question about the BC895. I know there are several models of this scanner available. However, I have been unable to find one that is able to display text/alpha ID tags for trunk systems. Maybe I am missing something. Anyone know? Also, is there a true base scanner like this one that would be able to do everything this one does plus the text ID tags? Thanks for the help!

I think it is the BC9000XLT. Looks like the 895 and has 500 channels. 250 channels you can alpha tag, but it is not a trunktracker.

None of the 895's ever produced did Alpha-tags...as stated below the BC9000xlt (which was released well before the 895) did alpha-tags for 250 of the 500 available channels but did NOT trunktrack...the 895 was the first base trunktracker and never had Alpha-tags for IDs....
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information everyone. But does anyone know of a base scanner that does conventional/trunk scanning with alpha id tags? I currently use a mobile scanner for home use but the display is just too small to read from across the room.

About the best you will find anymore is something like the BC15. The display is plenty big enough.

That is just it...read posts from the past...Uniden has made a decision for whatever reason to not do the "Big Base" Models of the past...if you want a Uniden base unit with alpha-tags you will have to settle for one of the Mobile/Base combo scanners like the BCT15 or the BCD996T....you could go for a BC796D but If you really want digital why limit yourself to the constrants of the 796? Go with the 996 and enjoy the extra features & memory space...
I would recommend the Wiki:
Uniden Scanners - The RadioReference Wiki
If the scanner you want will not be supported after rebanding I would caution against buying it.
