BC898T SS serial port error - help

I am using the uniden BC898T SS software for my BC898T scanner.
I bought the full version.

I had it up and running, and controlling it thru my computer, etc...

now all of a sudden, without changing any settings, I am getting an error message that says "Error opening serial port"

I have not changed any settings, All my settings are still set the same, and i uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and it still does NOT work!

Please help!

check any item ( software) that may be trying to auto sync on bootup, digi cams, cel phones & also disable microsoft sync

Thanks. I will try to see if anything is trying to auto sync with it.
