BC996; do I have any use for it?

I live in McComb, Ms, and have several scanners. Among, I have a BC785D and A BC796D. I wonder if anyone can tell me why I need an upgrade to a BC996. My present group appear to be doing the job.

Though I have asked, other than my forrays into Louisiana, I find no one contemplating in this area going to 700 or 900 megs. Are there any other advantages that I am not aware of?

Please give me the benefits of your wisdom.

If your county goes to 700 turnking then the 996 will come in handy I have the 396 the 396 and 996 will trunk the 700 system. Those radios has fire tone out listen to music tv etc..

Do you have any APCO 25 digital Trunked systems in your area?
This is all it took for me to upgrade from my BC780.

Sometimes you really don't need a logical reason, sometimes just cause you want it and it looks awsome..For me I saw a picture of it and said I got to have it..First impressions always get me,if I have to talk myself into it then I really dont want it..

Somebody's finally come out with a scanner that can decode QCII? Is that what you mean by this?

I know thank god someone got the Fire Tone Out for a scanner I'm glad we can scan 10 at one time with the same freq. I have 98 percent done for my county. The scanner will do any FTO systems I went up north and they used Plectron here is a site for different ones

What are you using to figure out the tones? Software spectrum analyzer? Which one?
