I am new to the programming of the BCD996P2. The unit I have was programmed where I purchased it but I wanted to try programming it myself. I downloaded the Butel software and have the Radio Reference subscription. I had no problem downloading and listening to conventional channels but when I downloaded the Conn State Police Freq. I hear nothing. I assume that I missed something but have tried several changes to the scanner and the program with no luck. Has anyone here ever loaded the CT State Police that could help ???

If you attach your State Police ARC-XT .rsf programming file, I will check it for problems. You will need to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.

You need to program a trunked system

That's the easier to read manual.

Program the system, add frequencies, then add the talk groups.

Good luck 👍

I monitor CSP infrequently on a uniden 996P2. Living in Central Ct. Using only the control frequencies for Troop H 774.5312 as one distinct site and Troop F 774.30625 as a separate site in the same system, I routinely receive all troops except Troop D. Some troops come in on both sites, and others only on one. Don't have the log handy at the moment. I have also been told that CLMRN is not simulcast but multicast. If you check RR frequencies they are all different. The 996P2 handles all CLMRN (at least in my case) with no distortion whatsoever, using either a back of set 800 mhz rubber duck or an attic mounted antenna. Again, this is only my own personal experience.

I also use a 996p2 and have never had any issues with CLMRN/CSERN.

I receive every troop with no simulcast type issues.
