So I hit the hold button on my scanner and now it will not go back to scan. I tried to shut it off for a while and that did not change anything. then I tried leaving it unplugged for 48 hours that didn't do anything either. I also tried to press the menu button and that doesn't do anything either. I was trying to see what version of firmware I had. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You put the scanner in "System Hold" mode.

Hold the "HOLD" button for more than 3 seconds and it should resume scanning

Firmware is under Menu>Settings>See Scanner Info

You can reset the scanner with the following procedure. It will erase your programming.
Turn it off then push & hold 2, 9, and HOLD at the same time while turning it on.

ok, did a reset and reprogrammed the scanner. Now I cant use the hold button. I'm thinking there is a problem with the keypad controls

Can you feel the HOLD button go in or is it stuck on? If the HOLD button is stuck, it disables all of the other buttons on the keypad.

I don't know, I cant get the menu button to work. Im sure there has been an up date since I got the scanner. I bought it just about a year ago. I went on Uniden's site, I didn't see anywhere were I could download the latest firmware

Is it still under warranty? If it is, I would send Uniden Tech Support an email and inform them of your problem before the warranty runs out.

You don't exactly "download the latest firmware" any more.

Instead, you install the BC_VUP3 Firmware updater. Then, you start that program, pick your scanner from the ones it can update, and it does the rest.

Start at this page:

The link for the updater is at the top of the page.

If that doesn't work and the scanner is still under warranty, I would send that email to Uniden so there is a record of the failure within the warranty period even if Uniden can't fix it now due to the coronavirus.
