bc996xt problems

I just bought the bc996xt and i'm trying to program it with arc-xt pro but my computer can't find the scanner....this is my first scanner.... can someone help me please.

Check the Windows Device Manager--Ports (COM & LPT). The assigned port will be listed there. You then can set the COM Port setting in ARC-XT PRO via "Scanner--Communication Setup".

Also, go into the Menu on the scanner and under settings make sure that the comm ports are not set to "Off". Try the highest setting first.
