thanks for the quick reply,mtindor. I have a 396 that tracks a apco25 system,but my 296 will not track that system,it stops on talk id then starts tracking again. Any ideas of what can be the problem? the system is JPSO apco 25 . Thanks ,hank

I'm not familiar with JPSO. What trunked system is this? Can you spell it out specifically and give me the county/state it is in so I can take a look?

I don't have a 296, so I may not be much help - and it wouldn't surprise me if you have to set up the 296 a little differently than I set up my 996.

If you're referring to Jefferson Parish system, it is a Moto Type II system and needs to be configured as such.

I know that in a 996, a Project 25 system is configured differently than a Moto Type II wth APCO 25 common air interface. So make sure you configure the system as a Moto Type II trunked system.

Thanks again,you are correct it is the jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office . They recently went with a totatly differsnt system.the Latie, but they are using the old system as backup.The Latie I can receive on my 396, it has some 700 mhz channels in it. the 296 will not pick that one up because of the 700 channels,but the old system is not as records show type 2,that changed with the conversion.It is A Apco25, as I have programmed in my 396. But the 296 will not track a apco25 system for some reason. Thanks again hank

If you're programming for control channel only, be sure to also set the "Plan" to the correct configuration, 1, 2, 3, or 4. It's covered in the manual as to what the difference is.

HI Guys, I found the problem. Seems like they added some 700mhz freqs in the channel line up.I discovered this while monitoring system with my 396. Thanks for all your help. hank
