BCD 396XT Custom Search problem

I checking this bcd396xt scanner for a friend of mine, does anyone know why it stuck on monitoring the custom searches and the close call hits. How do I turn these off, and monitor only the programmed systems. I have read the owners manual on the disk but haven't seen anything listed. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hold down the function key while turning the dial, then hit lockout on the searches you wish to lockout.
