BCD 396XT Questions

I have a few questions, I have read the manual but I do not understand the following: 1) What is the P25 LP Filter setting, and should I have it on? 2) What is set C-CH Output, and what setting should I have it on? 3) What is Audio AGC and, and what setting should I have it on?

2) Outputs data through the serial port for use by Unitrunker and similar applcations when turned on.

3) Tries to level the audio when different users on a channel speak at different levels. Defaults are typically left alone, but any changes would be to your particular tastes.

Speaking of 396XT questions... I have 1 frequency that, so far, I have seen 3 different NAC's using. 2 are unknown and the other one I have no interest in receiving. How can I lock out the one I don't want?

Program all three and lock out the one you don't want
IE:
167.7125 NAC 201
167.7125 NAC 202
167.7125 NAC 203 LO
So program the frequency with each NAC and lock out the one you don't want to hear

I programmed my new 396xt somewhat successfully with FreeScan, but it keeps jumping from the trunked systems to Air band search and stayes there - what gives?

Sounds like you have the Air Band search turned on. To turn that off, while it is scanning that band, press F+L/O, L/O.

I just purchased the Uniden BCD 396-XT handheld scanner. Does anyone in the Chattanooga, TN. area know anyone that programs these animals for a fee. I want the Chattanooga-Hamilton County TRS programmed , along with the other two counties currently using the system. When recording with the 396XT this is what the file looks like >

Now, after the frequency we see 293 and 397. Is this the actual NAC received? The reason I ask is because my log history shows no NAC of 397. I understand 293 is a default (I have the same example on another frequency showing different NACs) but I'm wondering if the audio info is the more reliable way to determine the NAC or am I reading this wrong?

It is tough to help you out without knowing which software program you are using.
I would recommend asking your question in the software forum. When you do post
there make sure to include which software program you are using.

OK I'll make this a litter easier. Lets forget about what my ARC-XT PRO history log says. Audio output from the 396XT to my computer. Standard .wav file. Windows Media Player. Question remains, where it shows 293 and 397 is this the actual NAC being received?

Straight audio out to your PC (without some sort of software) shows nothing. The audio output line does not carry any data. Any tagging you are getting in Windows Media Player must be coming from ARC XT PRO (assuming that is what software you are using). Someone in this forum might know the answer, but Butel "hangs out" over in the software forum, so you'd probably get a faster answer over there.
