What kind of cable? Your title says ACARS, and you could receive it with the right software and an audio connection. Be more specific

You would need an audio cable to go from the radio to your PC and from there, to your decoder of choice. The USB port on the radio isn't used for this, as you stated.

You are referring to the red-white-yellow cable, correct? I used one 5+yrs. to backup some VHS tapes on to DVD.

I have no clue what that is, but it sounds like it's some sort of video cable. You need an audio cable - likely a 1/8 inch on one side for the Uniden (I could be wrong on the size) and one on the other side to go to a USB soundcard (if your PC doesn't have any mic in or spkr in jacks)

Thinking back, and what I described. It is a video cable that I was describing. The audio would be white-red.

the post from freqseeker has it right.
i was just showing you the difference between mono and stereo.
the 325 needs a stereo plug into it as it has a stereo jack in it.

also if i have it right you have to turn off the squelch on the scanner because the squelch action is too slow.
i am not totally sure, but someone will come along...

You can only turn the squelch off - or to ZERO - on a trunked system.

On a conventional system you're likely to hear white noise and the scanner won't scan with the squelch at ZERO.

You can give it a try to verify. (y)

yes, if the signal is too quick it might not trip the squelch.
it would be faster than my wife saying "you were right".
some video of a guy decoding it has the squelch off.
with some scanners you might not get the preamble with squelch on. (that is the phrase in my head)
i don't do acars, i just read a lot.
