I could really use some tutoring on programming a DMR system on my BCD325P2.. It's a new (modified) system in a neighboring county and it's a "DMR Motorola Capacity Plus Multi Site (TRBO)" system using VHF frequencies on four sites. I input this system straight from the RRDB but when I traveled Thursday to the county, I received nothing, not even the sound of a control channel. I need some help on how to correctly program this system CORRECTLY. For information, the system in question is the Alexander City/Tallapoosa County Public Safety DMR trunked system (Tallapoosa County, AL).

Are you able to receive other VHF stations? NOAA weather radio? You tried all 4 sites? Did you try monitoring only one site at a time (site hold)? Did you try plugging in listed control channels via quick search & you received zero signal from each CC? Any other antennas at your disposal other than stock? And before someone else asks, you paid for the DMR/MotoTRBO upgrade?
Simulcast distortion may be a factor if monitoring sites 1 or 3

YES, I tried all those suggestions. I receive many VHF agencies all around this system. I've used both a commercial mobile antenna and several different handheld antennas. I.ve been a Uniden scanner enthusiast since 1978 and consider myself fairly knowledgeable. But this has stumped me and I'm guessing it's likely a little thing I'm either doing or not doing.

Did you use software to import from the database, or did you manually enter the data. Also did you program all four sites of the system? Or only one or two. Which sites are programmed? For the Alexander City site, I see it is tagged as "need LCN". Without LCNs, the scanner will not receive that site properly, and maybe not at all.

(Note: rereading your comments, you indicate all four sites were programmed. But still advise whether or not you used software to import the data.)

Try putting the frequencys in the scanner conventionally and mark them "digital " and see if you hear any modulation on any that works for starters for me on my 325P2 but as far as trunking it you need "LCNs

I'm curious, along the same lines as Metfire31. I recently purchased both DMR and NXDN for my 325p2, however, on certain frequencies with either DMR or NXDN, it hangs up on one of their frequencies without any audio. On the scanner, it will show either NX4 or CAP, but without audio. What should I do

I think that's called the "busy channel" like a CChannel , I have the same thing on my 996P2 , you have to program it as a trunk system with LCNs and it will look for Talk Groups....

CAP+ has no control channel. The systems can be seen with keyups every second or so on one of the channels which indicates the one that is REST channel. If you see activity on a channel with no voice heard, that could be data or encryption.

Dumb question! Did you purchase the DMR paid upgrade for your scanner? I didn't see any mention of it.

Are they programmed as trunked systems or conventional?
