Dude, seriously... how can you be the only one having that degree of difficulty? Obviously, it's not Uniden. There has to be another problem in the chain of events somewhere.

Please try to take it step by step so the failure point can be identified. Yelling at Uniden won't help anything or your blood pressure.

Are you on dialup or do you have broadband? I can tell you that this evening it took several minutes for the file to actually become available for download once I clicked a link. They are probably getting hit pretty hard over there.

Check Sum fails. Please go back by clicking your back button and enter a valid check sum.

OK ..... first let's take this STEP by STEP one question at a time.

What model of radio are you upgrading?

What is the CURRENT level of firmware in THAT radio as reported by the menu as it sits right now in front of you (no computers involved just the menu).

Mike, Where is it you are stuck? I have real all your posts and I am unable to really tell where you are not getting it. I just updated my 396 and there was no problems with the site other than the D/L was slow. I had no problems with the uploading the ESN uploader. There was also no problems installing and using the update software and it successfully uploaded the new firmware.

What have you already done? Where are you getting stuck?

Got the Checksum, Now which is the latest update I need to download to be up to date. 2.00.06 or 2.0.0.3

2.0.0.3 is the version of the loader program you already have installed.

2.00.06 is your ultimate goal: THAT is the version of the .scn file you hope to get into your scanner. ;)

I keep getting a Registration Key Error, despite using the key supplied by Uniden, with the correct baud rate and Com port. Have tried 3 times. Any ideas what I am doing incorrectly?

It doesn't work that way. You need to register it and do it correctly or it will do you no good.

Why do you refuse our help? I and others have offered step by step instruction. If you would answer the questions as they are presented here we would probably be done already and you would be updated.

Ok...

Again, I am not a computer geek but need help through this process besides someone cutting and pasting what's on the Uniden site.
I have already registered my 396 with Uniden's website.
When I go to the "All My Scanner's" page as it says I should do it says go to the "Latest Firmware" column but I don't see this anywhere. Where is that?
I then clicked on the part where I'm supposed to enter an ESN.
I tried entering an ESN based on the last 9 digits of my serial number as it asks, but it also asks for an ESN checksum. Where do I find this?
Thanks, BG
