New Firmware for BCD396T and BR330T

Uniden, today, released updates for the BCD396T and BR330T handheld scanners and the BearCat firmware updater. These updates improve functionality in several areas as detailed below. Download these updates from the Uniden America Corp. website at http://www.uniden.com/rn_productsupport_downloads.cfm.

BCD396T Update

This firmware load updates the BCD396T firmware to version 1.08.07. This update includes these improvements:

  • Improves immunity to temporary low-voltage from the AC adapter to reduce unintentional battery charge timer resets.
  • While performing a control-channel custom search, you can now quick save found control channel frequencies.
  • Improves Fire Tone-Out performance when CTCSS/DCS is present.
  • Allows more than 100 FM Broadcast service lockouts
  • Changes step and modulation for 225-400MHz(Military Air) as,
    • 225.0000-379.9750 : 25.0kHz/AM
    • 380.0000-399.9875 : 12.5kHz/NFM
Future factory shipments will include this update.

BR330T Update

This firmware load updates the BR330T firmware to version 1.01.05. This update includes this improvement:

  • Changes step and modulation for 225-400MHz(Military Air) as,
    • 225.0000-379.9750 : 25.0kHz/AM
    • 380.0000-399.9875 : 12.5kHz/NFM
Note that initial production units will have version 1.01.03. Due to the minor nature of this update, Uniden has no plans to rework produced units with this update.

BearCat Version Updater Update

This software revision updates the BC_VUP software to 1.0.0.8. This update includes internal updates only that do not affect any reported issue. However, we encourage all customers to update to this latest version.

Using the files provided, the radio firmware looks like it is complete but at the very end of it, cummunication error comes up?
Should the .scn file have the following file extension to it? .scn.txt

My radio is blank?

Problem fixed, downloaded new .scn file, save it to the desktop and applied. Everything fixed :)
Cheers

Solution...

I had the same problem when I went to update my 396 with the last firmware. delete the
.txt from the end of the file and it should be fine. Or you can re-download the firmware and when the save box appears change the file type from "txt" to "all files"

Regards,
Mark

Will the 396 update require an updated UASD version to accomodate any of the new changes, and if so, when will it be released?

Paul,

My BR330T shows a firmware version of 1.00.02. Is there somewhere that I can get the update for 1.01.03, since my scanner apparently didn't come with this version from the factory?

Thanks.

Why would you want .03 when .05 is the current version (which you can get here)?

The reason is twofold: First and foremost, I would still be missing the earlier firmware info (the .05 update is just a minor one and wouldn't replace the firmware info that i'm apparently missing), and second - I don't know that it's safe to update firmware 'out of order' so to speak.

The latest updates include all of the previous ones. So you are not missing anything by just downloading the most current. In othr words, as UPMan had said in another thread (sorry, I forget which one), they are 'cumulative'.

I didn't realize that. That's good info to know. Thanks Hiegtx.

So I guess that begs the question then what improvements will be made by upgrading from it's current condition? I know about the changing the step size in the AM aircraft bands, but what changes are made between version 00.02 and 01.03? Anyone know?
