I've been listening to my old BC200 for years, and finally bit the bullet and bought a new BCD396T, I'm new to the digital systems and, for the most part have been able to figure out how to get my local systems (I live in St. Clair Co, IL) set up, but am not having much luck with Burlco. I frequently travel to NJ on business, and would like to monitor Burlington Co while I'm out there. Any suggestions on how I should set up my 396s NJ Configuration? Do I need to create a separate system for each site, or just one system with all the control channels in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance-

Steve

Either method will work...each has its plusses and minuses:

Seperate system for each site: Ensures that all sites get scanned. However, uses more memory (are you close to using all 6000, yet? :) ). Also, if you want to add a talk group, you will need to add it to all the systems.

One system for all Control Channels: Minimizes memory usage, but the scanner will only track off of the first control channel it can receive, and will not check other control channels.

Hi Steve,

I programmed each BurlCo site as a system, and assigned each system the same SQK. It works quite well.

Greetings, and thanks for the info! I've gone ahead and created a separate system for each site. (I'm not too terribly worried about using up the memory on my scanner  ) I simply entered the channels and talkgrounds into one system, and then copied it, editing the channels and name each time. Saved inputting each and every TGID repeatedly. I've put the .usd files in the Yahoo BCD396T group, under files. I've also included NJSP Troop A. Hopefully someone will find it useful. (I hope that I've got the systems setup correctly-if anyone uses these, and notices that they're not, please let me know ASAP, so I can correct them.)
