BCD396T Display Arrow

On BCD396T display there is an arrow that points up on the right side of the display. This arrow will also point downward if the function key is held while pressing down the volume knob. I have not found the correct combination of keys each time.

Can anyone say for sure what this will do and how it works? I have found nothing in the Manuel so far.

The arrow indicates which way the scanner scans. This is more aparent if you are doing a band search. When the arrow points up, the scanner scans from low to high.... arrow down, high to low.

Not sure what page number(s) it is mentioned, if it even is at all.

Another thing the arrow denotes is if you are scanning, such as in ID Scan mode, and you have multiple systems active it scans up or down, ascending or descending. Such as, you have systems 1 through 5 active, it 'starts' at 1 and goes to 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then 1, etc. If the arrow is 'pointing down' it 'starts' at 1 and goes to 5, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, then 5, etc.

Try pages 91-93 in your manual.

Turning the multi-function knob will change the arrow direction also.
