BCD396T firmware update?

I JUST PURCHASED a brand new (2007 model) BCD396t uniden scanner. I am totally unfamiliar with the process to program the scanner, which programming app to use (that is easiest and most efficient) and the process by which frequencies for my area are acquired and imputed into the programming software..

Since the scanner is new but vintage 2007, I am told it will need a firmware update. Where and how do I do that?

As far as the firmware update, this is the place to go:

BCD396TFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

Follow all the instructions VERY carefully and you won't have any problems.
