BCD396T: How to backup & remove all Presets?

I've been reading these forums for awhile and just decided to register. I received my brand new BCD396T yesterday and I now realize that it'll be a learning adventure.. I got it hooked up to the computer and I was wondering how I can Backup all of the presets and remove them, for I won't have to scroll through a hundred of them to get to the "systems" I made. Then, of course, if I decide to sell it at a future date or wish to restore them, I could do so.

I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of my help posts pretty soon.. so keep a sharp eye. I'm using the Uniden Advanced Scanner Director. Also, should I upgrade the firmware to the latest version now?

Edit: Okay, after searching and searching for an hour, I decided to post this. Then right after, I stumbled upon a post about Clone396. I ran it and successfully made a backup of the entire unit. Will it now be safe to delete all the preset systems and create my own?

I believe all preprogrammed info is in the UASD so there is not a need to back it up unless you have done some of your own programming. To save what is on the scanner once it is connected and the software has read the information if you are on the scanner view side of things you will see a save button to the right side of the screen. Click on that then give the config a name, put a check in the box for replace existing files with same name, and then click ok. Voila all that was on the scanner is now on the pc. When downloading back either create a config and add only what you want or edit the config you just created and delete out what is not wanted. When you write to scanner choose the erase all option.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll begin programming for trunk tracking. I have no clue what I'm doing but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I want to first add the Trunking for Lake Elsinore/Perris. I'm using http://www.qsl.net/ke6alv/rvctrunk.html for the TrunkTracker IDs. The way I understand it I have to add 04-021 through 04-025. Now, my question is - Would these be EDACS Wide or Narrow? What's the difference and how could I tell?

Correct. If you lose them they are also available on the BCD396T Yahoo group. I would recommend moving them to a separate folder to better see your UASD files. Of course, keep the ones you use in that folder.

I just made another folder for my USD files and left the default alone.

The database view get cluttered if you will when all the systems are displayed.

Thanks for that tip. I found the folder you guys are talking about and moved all the default ones into a different folder. MUCH better without the clutter! I'll be posting the USD file as you requested, Voyager, in my other thread.
