I posted in the other thread and might as well put it here as well. I installed the update and everything went smooth. This update is a little easier than than 3.01. I haven't done any comprehensive testing but everything seems normal so far.

Firmware Problem Solved!

I took Paul's advice and reinstalled the older version of BC_VUP (v.2.0.0.3). My BCD396T has now been updated with the latest firmware and works fine.

For some reason, the newest BC_VUP (v.2.0.0.7) would not allow me to update my firmware. Reverting to the previous version worked.

Thanks,

---bob

Paul, Not sure what happened but I will report it. I am pretty computer literate so it had be befuddled, and slightly paniced. I downloaded the firmware updates to a 396 and 996, then saw the new VUp, so I downloaded that. I uninstalled the old Vup, deleted the files then installed the new one. It kept telling me it was installing the UASD not Vup, when i looked back both my programming Sws had been removed. UASD. I downloaded them again, installed them both (saved the original databases so didn't lose anythign) and then installed Vup and it installed correctly.

I only updated my 396 as it is terrible now on P25, motorboats more then it ever did before, and don't want to do the same to my 996. Also the request for a digital only settting on a 396 channel is expressed.

Any way to get 396t 3.01 back to test it?

Thanks
Eric

I didnt see update to version 007 until i did upgrade on 3.01.02. Worked fine on 003. I guess that's all that matters the firmware loader doesnt have any other functions does it?

396t and RH96 no Vol & Sq

Paul:

I think my post was lost when the previous firmware notice was removed... So this is a repeat...

After updating the 396t to v3.02.02 the attached RH96 is not showing the volume and squelch settings in the new numerical format. Is there something else that needs to be done to have this shown?

Was told basically we have to deal with the motorboating on the 396 in a private e-mail i received when i complained how worse its gotten with the previous firmware updates. also noted alot of dropped transmissions on the 396 as well, i guess we will have to live with that
as well. Uniden fixes the problem and with latest firmware updates its worsen. fix and back to step one hey paul get me a job with uniden, i could waste alot of time on the clock too.

Eric, send me an email address and I'll send you the V3.00.00.scn and V3.01.00.scn files I squirreled away.....
I reverted to 3.00.00 and the radio works like a charm... My specific problem had to do with the KSP P-25 conventional multi-cast system sounding like a a busy day at the firing range....

Well, to say that stinks is an understatement, guess the push is to have people buy the new ones, but my feeling right now is that if they abandon those that spend $300 to $600 on these non-essential toys, then other vendors may have an interest in customer loyalty.

Thanks

appreciate it. I usually keep older revs but got a little too zelous cleaning up my drive.

UPMan, I asked this before, got no answer, is there any plan to release the UASD to allow for programming rebanded systems instead of having to do them by hand? Also can I ask again to put a Digital Only selection on the 396 so it gets rid of intereference.

Bob:

Please email me directly regarding this problem.
popitz@uniden.com

Got the same problem here. 2.0.0.7 said "Connecting", then "Erasing" for several seconds, then it said it couldn't communicate.

Using the standard serial cable with a Prolific 2303 USB->Serial converter adapter (very common; silver braided cable, translucent blue connector), COM7, 115200bps, on Windows Server 2008 SP1, x64. If that helps at all.

Downgrading back to 2.0.0.3 is allowing the upgrade to go through.

Any specific changes in 2.0.0.7 that might make it required for this particular firmware? I assume there's no harm in using 2.0.0.3, but correct me if I'm wrong.
