• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

No AA's, no AC adaptor, and it's "like new".

I'd go with the refurb idea.
I'd say more in the area of "Like Stolen", or more charitably, "Like Pawned".

Here's a "Like New" 296 from Uniden's online store. Out of stock right now, but the price is $450 when in stock, & it comes with manual, adapter, batteries, etc.

Can't see a refurbed 396 from Uniden going for less than a 296. The other 'like new' scanners listed also show as including the usual accessories.

I'm watching for more to be listed, and the feedback on those deals.

I'm not sure I buy the stolen or pawned. This guy would have case and follow people out of a local radio store to get that many. Pawned, already? I've scraped pennies together to get the latest and greatest, but we’re not talking about Buckeye state home foreclosures.
