BCD396T Setting off Alarms ****

Well today is the third time I have set off the theft alarms that are
located at the front of dept stores.
Had it happen at target and also at a CVS store here in Nashville.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? To verify this I left the radio
setting just inside the store and walked through the gate and no alarm,
radio back on and alarm goes off.

I think on one of the target times the radio may have even been turned off,
but cannot recall.

You might want to check for a small rectangular piece of plastic stuck to the side or inside the battery compartment.....

Checked that after the first episode and notta, I think it must be some configuration in the circuitry to cause it to go off.

Maybe someone else will see it happen to them at another target store maybe it will get fixed, but I will just live with it, unless uniden did install the tags on the inside of the radio housing for some reason.

I'd have fun with it..when alarm goes off, make a break for it. Pretend to throw stuff out in a nearby garbage can and run like the dickens.

FYI, I've gone in and out of several Target stores. This hasn't happened to me.

Just for information, I too have been in and out of several stores (not Target and we have no CVS here) but I have been in and out of a lot in the Malls as well as WalMart and Sam's and thus far have not tripped any.

I had a similar thing happen to me.

It all began when I purchased a pair of Nike Airs from a local thrift store. Normally I would not buy shoes there, but these were brand new, still in the box, still had the paper stuffing inside even. $100 shoes for $10 - I couldn't pass them up.

Well anyhow, the next day I slip on my new shoes and the wife and I head for the mall to do some shopping. Well, I kept setting off those stupid alarms! I thought it was my scanner, so I had her hold it to see. I still set them off, not her.

Then I thought maybe it's my pager. So I gave her the pager. Same thing.

This went on all day and I could not for the life of me figure out what was the problem. It was getting a bit embarrassing! Then, towards the end of the day, I suddenly felt something sharp poking my foot inside the shoe. So I pulled the shoe off to remove what I figured was a pebble or a thorn that had worked it's way in there and voila - out comes this white rectangular plastic thing. I threw it away and the alarms stopped being tripped. Apparently, someone played Robin Hood with those shoes. :lol:

Did you buy any new shoes lately, or anything else you carry with you that might have had one of those tags? It might not be the scanner that's causing it.

Nadda unless Uncle Sam stuck one inside my combat boots while I was asleep. I know it is the scanner see action taken above message.
Oh well now I can have some fun with people having stand trying to figure if it was them that set it off.

Well Finally figured it out after setting of the Kohls store system went back to the Target store nearby, and started to see if I could verify it was for sure the radio BCD396T and glad to say it was not......

I had a tag inside a wallet that I had bought months ago at this same store and there system had been upgraded and that is the reason for it to all the sudden go off. I had walked in and out of this store to many times when I would pick my wife up and it would never go off so that explains that but still does not explain the CVS store system not going off again when I walked through it unless it has to be reset or something.

Glad this is over with.

I wonder why it didn't go off when you left the scanner in the store.

In any case, glad it's over and glad it wasn't the scanner.
