BCD396T Smeared LCD Display ?

Just had this hand held a few days now, BCD396T.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

This morning when I turned it on the scanner the display shows black lines running from top to bottom. The lines appear to originate from the top lcd display items on every page.

In normal scan mode the smearing originates from the "signal strength" icon and runs to the bottom.
In Program Mode the word -- MENU -- is smeared from top to bottom.

I have tried to change the display settings - nothing.
I have tried to re-flash the firmware - nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

Sounds like a damaged or defective display. Send it in under warranty and get it repaired.

That is a repair problem. Like Squirrel said, send it in for warrenty service.

I thought the display was bugged as well until upon a re-read I missed the sentence early on to remove the plastic sticker from the display. BIG difference. DOH!

Yea - I think something is wrong. Just my luck.

Also, for what ever reason the scanner now turns itself off after approx 5 minutes of use even when in program mode.
The save battery option is turned off so, I think this unit has some issues.

Anyway - I have contacted Uniden via there web site and now waiting to here back from them.
