I've searched for more information on the BCD396XT's APCO 25 Mode but can't seem to find an answer (small wonder with hundreds of pages in a "manual" that jumps all over the map). How do you manually adjust the APCO 25 decode threshold for each Motorola Site as opposed to the default Auto setting of "8"? It would nice to set each site for its' optimum decode threshold and then allow the Auto mode adjust from that optimum starting point. I know this was possible on the 396T.

The system I'm working with is a Motorola 800mHz Standard (type II).

No need to adjust, it's automatic now. That is just a visual reference and display of percent error.

Thanks, Dave.... It was my hope that there was a way to change the factory default decode setting of "8" to some other starting point. Since the system I'm working with has an optimum setting of "12-13", it would be nice (and make more sense) if the default of "8" could be changed to a "12" or "13" and allow the Auto mode to adjust/fine tune from that point.

So, is there no way to adjust on the XT like on the T for testing purposes?

I am using FreeScan and if I change from anything other than AUTO 8, it appears the changes aren't made in the radio after upload.

I can't find (or figure out) how I would do it on the radio itself if it could be done, not using FreeScan

Thanks in advance!

Nope.... On the 396XT, the default setting of "Auto 8" is it. No way to change it with the current firmware. If that irks you; you're not alone.

That adjustment is an option in FreeScan that is applicable to the 396T. Not sure about the 996T but, imagine it works with that too.

Thanks sjlamb. Interesting, I thought that would be the best method for "tuning" the P25 network I am trying to listen to but I guess not.

If you are getting the Auto/8 from FreeSCAN, please note that this is just a placeholder for when you download. The threshold settings are not available to programming software either, so a default placeholder (Auto/8) is inserted.

Thanks CPUError. Hopefully I am just missing something silly that is causing my issue.

All in all, awesome radio!!! Well worth the investment. Just wish I knew more about digital systems to make the radio do what I want :)
