I'm pretty new to scanning and have a Uniden BCD396XT. I have all the local frequencies and trunk systems downloaded and programmed into the unit and am getting good performance overall, but I don't feel like I'm making adequate use of the features this scanner provides. I have the manual and understand most of it, but many times I discover features when I need them by trial and error.
Is there a reference like "Scanners for Dummies" or something like that where a person can go to see a typical scanner setup making efficient use of all the features of this radio? I believe the unit is well worth what I paid, but for $500.00, I don't want to miss out on anything.
By the way, the ARC software saved me on programming. Couldn't have done without it.
