I would like to see Radio IDs.
I think everyone should post yes or no if they want to see Radio Id's. My vote is YES I like to see it to. Maybe if everyone post if they wanted it or not then maybe Uniden will see that they are a market demand for it if they get a big response from it.

I would prefer they release the UASD Software.
Does anyone know what the hold up is releasing the UASD software? I did read someplace Uniden had some new developer working on it back in March.

What makes you think there will be one?

Just got a feeling. I remember reading a thread somewhere where Upman (spelled it correctly this time Mike-LOL) said he was collecting some minor issues that would be fixed in an update. I can think of a few. One being the backlight issue. Besides from what I see the demand for radio ID's seems to be something that Uniden might want to seriously consider as well. By the way I vote for it. RADIO ID'S - put me on the list! Also thanks to torontokris for educating me on the value of the radio id's.

UASD - when??

I would prefer they release the UASD Software.

Yeah, what's up with this? I have a 396T, so the fact that there is no manual (yeah, yeah, wiki - whatever) doesn't annoy me as much as it would otherwise, but lack of software is beginning to grate.

I'm not paying $50 for software that should have come with the radio. UASD (for the 'T) wasn't the best (or prettiest!) software in the world, but it did the job.

FreeScan doesn't work reliably enough and doesn't support all features.

bcTool would probably be OK, but the author (who gives away his software) is otherwise engaged in putting food on his table so that's not an option just yet.

So, UPman, what about it? The radio has been out 6 weeks now ...

What is wrong with Freescan? I like it.

Half the time it logs garbage. In the LCARS skin of the remote control, the s-meter bar freaks out on a regular basis rendering the display useless. Frequencies imported from UASD for the 396T that have CTCSS/DCS or search set are not properly set to "Analog" (meaning no tone).

Etc, etc.

It does load freqs OK, so I use it for that (and then go in and fix tones). It also doesn't support the bandscope, NACs (correctly, at least), and ... there was another thing that I've apparently forgotten.

Anyway, UASD should have been shipped with the radio six weeks ago and it isn't here yet and, worse, there is no ETA.

Yall ever stop to think that sometimes situations happen that are beyond the scope of a companies control?
That there are situations in which software release dates have to be modified?
I guess we should all be upset that we did not have the software immediately the second the first radio shipped?
I mean good lord get a grip people.
And Freescan works pretty damn well for being a free program.
In fact I usually have to massage any imported radio file from a different radio in ANY software program.
I get the feeling some of you expect to have UPMan show up at your front door at radio delivery time with a brand new computer with the software preinstalled guaranteed to work 100% of the time FOR FREE in one hand and a dish of caviar in his other hand.
Life is too short. Just enjoy the fact we still have a hobby.

I agree. Maybe they should have held shipment? No radio so we can wait on software?

I am happy to have the radio early.

I would also like to point out I have never had ANY issues with reading/writing data to my 396xt. And this comes from someone who did not have the luxury of having ANY software when I first had my 396xt.
So at least we have something that works reliably.
And I am sure when ready there will be a reliable software release of UASD.
I would rather the software designers/coders take their time and get stuff right (like Assaf did with Freescan) than put out half assed software.
I have patience.

I can't find much of anything wrong with this scanner. I think it's the best that Uniden has come forth with yet, hands down. I'll also toss in my support for Freescan. Key word being FREE...although I did send a donation; well worth it.

The one thing I'd like to see at some point is the ability to globally assign GPS coordinates to conventional systems. I enjoy the new per group setting, but some systems I program require the same coordinates for all groups. Easier to program once than multiple times.

Other than that, I can't think of anything, although the radio ID's idea is neat.
