Awesome. I'm currently shopping around online for the best deal. I want to buy from a trustworthy, reputable dealer that stands behind its products, but I also don't want to pay a premium (duh, isn't that what everyone wants, anyway?).

On another note, what's the official link to Freescan? As far as I understand, this is the only software that can currently program the BCD396XT, correct?

I can't wait!

I plan on sitting out on the 396XT release. I already have a 396 that works great in my area and I can’t see buying another hand held at this time. I’ll hold out for the 996XT (if Uniden makes one) since I’m more of a base unit fan and it will be a simple swap-out in my truck. I’m looking forward to all the reviews on the 396XT when everyone starts to get them. I hope some of you make videos.

Well, If you are asking if I have opened up one of both units and inspected each capacitor and resistor looking to see what the differences are between the 2 units that way then nope...I have not...but I have put a 396t head to head with the 396xt and I can tell you that although the xt looks alot like the 396t there are enough differences to warrant the statement that the xt is NOT a 396t with a "couple of minor extra features"...
Now, those that have used a 396t will feel at home with the XT but the added features bumps it up to a whole new level.
