Excellet information Brebuck. I just got the BCD396XT this week and the learning curve is substantial. This is my first scanner and while using freescan and my subscription to Radioreference.com makes it easy to program and use, I am digging in to learn the nuts and bolts so I can get the most out of my investment. I am currently trying to figure out how to program different parts of the state so that I can utilize it only when traveling to that area instead of having the radio scan them all of the time. I haven't figured that out yet if there is a simple answer, which I am sure that there is, post it. Also, I am 22 miles north of Tampa and can see the shuttle go up from my yard. Anyone in the Hillsborough-Pasco area have a good resource for NASA transmittions through the scanner? Thanks for all of the great advice on this forum. I am trying to soak it all in as I learn.

RR is definitely a godsend for trunked systems. I still haven't manually programmed a site.

The goal of my guide is to just be able to learn a few basics to get started after which you can go to the Complete Ref. guide. I haven't scratched the surface of this scanner's capabilities.
