BCD396XT New User

I just bought a used BCD396XT from a friend. It has some San Antonio area frequencies on it. Do I need to remove these and start programming it all over, or can I add my local channels to it? I live West of Houston in the Katy/Brookshire/Pattison/Sealy area. I might add, I don't have a clue how to program this scanner. The last scanner I owned was 20 plus years ago.

Scroll toward the bottom for some helpful programming links. FreeScan would be the easiest software to use. You can get the frequencies from RR and copy them over to FreeScan then send them to your scanner. You can keep the SA frequencies too.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded freescan and upgraded on radio reference.com. I downloaded some of the frequencies and can now hear some. Now I need to learn how to use the squelch and lockout.
