I've owned this scanner for YEARS and I cannot figure out where I screwed up. I'm just trying to listen to the groups I have programmed, not scanning through frequencies. I can't get it off scanning through frequencies. When I push the numbers on the scanner to turn on and off my groups, either nothing happens or it turns the "SO" numbers on and off above the groups. I have looked through all the manuals and cannot find a fix. Please help.

If your scanner says ID Search, press the Function button (upper half of the button on left) and then the SCAN button to switch to ID Scan. To turn groups on and off, press the Function button and then the number of the group on the keypad. It is easier to change groups if you are scanning only one system.

It doesn't say ID search, it's just going up and down through the frequencies like it's in a band search. when I press the function button and then scan, it just gives me the option of doing quick search yes or no.

Had the same problem. Read all the "easier to read" manuals. They tell you how to get into that mode but not how to get OUTof that node. It appears when you add search to the rest of your programing it is there forever. I've learned to ignore it.

I just tried numerous searches and can't get the scanner "Stuck" in search mode.

What you CAN do is save the programming in Freescan - download from Freescan back to scanner, and it should be back to normal.

Here's the link for Freescan:

(It's FREE)

the quickest way to turn things off. F+L/O,L/O
hit the Function button, then hit lockout twice for everything that you want turned off.
when the radio scrolls "nothing to scan" turn on/unlock what you want to run.
earlier model scanners just needed function, lockout. F+L/O
