When I am programming an 800mhz system do I set the modulation as FM or Auto/NFM?

I have all mine set to NFM and it seems to work fine. My scanner has three separate choices, by site: FM, NFM, and Auto.

If I set it to NFM the audio is loud and if I use FM the audio is low without touching the volume.
