BCD396XT Search Feature

Before I had my new Uniden BCD396XT I had a GRE PSR800 and if you wanted to search a trunk system you put in a Wildcard for the system. If the GRE heard anything on the system it would pick it up.

I was just curious if putting the Uniden into Search instead of Scan mode on a trunk system, does it do the same thing? I keep thinking I should be hearing a lot more talk in Search mode but maybe its just quiet lately.

Yes. ID Search stops on all TGIDs in a trunked system (unless they've been locked out or are in a department that has been disabled).

Ok thank you. Good to know. I have one bank where I locked out all known TGID's so use it just to find unknowns or new ones. On another system, I don't lock out anything but put it into Search mode instead of Scan often just so I don't miss other TGIDs that come up.

I use the search on some of my trunked systems to find new talk groups. I sometimes lockout all the ones I have programmed just to scan for any new ones..
