I drive a 2004 F150, and would like to find a dashboard holder or mount for my BCD396XT. The ideal mount would put the radio up higher and be adjustable (angle-wise) so I could glance at the display with minimal glare.

A windshield suction mountable holder would not be my first choice, but if there's nothing else available, I would consider it. I'm not real fond of the windshield mounts because it advertises that I have something of value in the vehicle to a potential thief.

Thanks!

I agree with you on the windshield mounts for the advertisements, also nothing like going down the road and the suction cup let go and your phone or Gps or your high dollar scanner plummets into the abyss! (chaos ensues)!
anyway i'll be watching this post, i am looking for the same thing.

BCD396XT Vehicle Dashboard Holder Or Mount?

PanaVise Products, Inc.

If you want to do it right, go with a Panavise, or other brand, vehicle specific mount. Then add a Clip Caddy and you are all set. I am sure that you know this, but the button on the back of the BCD396XT mates perfectly with the V notch of the Clip Caddy.

That Clip Caddy is a neat find. I have a mic clip from my old Motorola mobile radio that I never took off the dash of my '97 F-series, and it too fits the back of the 396XT quite well.

One thing you might want to look at, depending on whether or not you are leery of drilling/sticking things into/onto your dash, is a single-pole RAM mount, which you can then stick whatever you want onto the top end. The pole is a semi-malleable metal rod covered in plastic corrugated tubing, and terminates at the bottom end in a bracket with a slot in it. You undo the left side bolt on the front of your passenger seat, where the track is bolted to the floor, put the slotted bracket in line with the bolt/socket, and tighten the bolt back up with the bracket sandwiched between the track and the bolt. I had one of these in my car for a netbook for a few years and it worked quite well. The rod is "semi-malleable" so you can bend it into the desired position, such that whatever you stick on the top of it is within reach/view (and, of course, out of the way of the air bag, etc).

It's the RAM POD I mount - http://goo.gl/2ZzPj
